Card to encourage and reassure parents of children starting school
Share
Moving up from pre-school and toddler groups to starting reception is daunting for any parent, especially when it's their eldest or youngest.
Family workers may want to offer encouragement and support through a card with a simple poem to show their support. Available to buy in products as an A5 card. A soft copy download is available through the form below to enable churches to print their own.
On the reverse of the card is the verse from Isaiah 40: 11
'He tends his flock like a shepherd, he carries the lambs in his arms and holds them close to his heart. He gently leads those with young'
The poem on the front reads:
"Through the gate, clutching the book bag.
Scooped up and sat alongside the others.
From the outside - eyes fixed on the teachers face.
Scoping the play areas to be discovered
Aware of the other children - noticing the shy smiles but maybe also a deniable tiny shove.
On the inside - as always - experiencing everything from the security of your love.
Nothing shifts that.
You have walked with them all the way - this is just another step.
Time to take a moment for you,
Eat cake, hug a friend, cry if you need.
And carry on."
