“I loved the words” said David, having moved across the country. We all know that a home is more than a house but it’s hard to describe why. The words on the inside reflect on the mixture of the physical and emotional aspects that make up a home, and offer encouragement on building 'sure foundations'. The words were inspired by Psalm 116 v. 6, quoted on the back. The text inside the card reads:
Moving within a Sure Foundation
"A home is something wonderful that defies description. It is created by the interaction between the material elements and the people who live there. Most of us will remember how intensely we experienced our immediate surroundings during the COVID lockdown and the combination of physical space and emotional relationships that defined our lives.
Moving house changes the physical surroundings, bringing new projects, maybe a sense of more space, new furnishings that bring joy or a different view from the window. Yet the foundations of our emotional home move with us. To the new house move the same kindnesses, habits of affection, or gestures of friendship and the sources of the same frustrations.
Just as a new house will need work to make it what you envisaged, there is always work to do within ourselves and our relationships. Nothing is unchangeable.
But whatever our plans and where ever we live, we can take strength and comfort from an assurance that all is held within the unbreakable cords of love that is the foundation and sustenance of all life.
Happy New Home!"

More Than Four Walls: What Makes a House a Home
Moving house often makes us think we’re only changing our surroundings, but home is about far more than bricks, paint colours and furniture. During lockdown, many of us became deeply aware of the four walls around us, noticing both the comforts of home and the tensions within it. A move can bring fresh space, a bigger garden or a new view, but the true heart of a home travels with us.
Home is shaped by the people who live there, the habits they create, the kindness they share and the challenges they work through together. It has its own identity, constantly growing and changing over time. New surroundings can bring calm, fresh perspective and room to breathe, but the foundations of home remain the relationships and love within it.
This reflection inspired the creation of our New Home Card, designed to celebrate not just a house move, but the life, warmth and memories that turn a house into a home. A thoughtful way to mark a new chapter and all that will grow within those walls.
“To see a World in a Grain of Sand And a Heaven in a Wild Flower, Hold Infinity in the Palm of your Hand, And Eternity in an Hour.”
The name 'Grain of Sand' comes from a childhood gift: a small silver clock engraved with William Blake's words from Auguries of Innocence about finding a world in a grain of sand. That idea runs through everything here. The reflections cover personal feelings, family dynamics, climate change and faith, all rooted in the belief that life works best when we notice and care for the larger wholes we're part of. Rooted in Christian faith, written to resonate with all.
